MY PHILOSOPHY
My previous knowledge in education is in Early Childhood from where a lot of my beliefs and values have grown, especially the theory on the image of a child. I see every child as an individual with the same rights and expectations of developing successfully and becoming a participating citizen in their world, no matter what their differences. The quote that best expresses how I feel, an educator should see a child is,
“the image of a child is an ongoing developing process that teachers and parents alike are constantly refining….the amazing thing about children is that every single one of them is different like snowflakes, no two are alike.”
By respecting individuality, we can foster the ability to motivate and create a sense of agency allowing students to be involved in their own learning, to become the researcher and the teacher. Also to create a student-centred learning environment where the power is equal across the classroom, when the educator guides and nurtures their natural curiosity and hunger to explore and experience.
I wish to create an inclusive classroom, where all students are valued equally and are involved participants in their own teaching and learning in all aspects of the curriculum. As educators we should not be coercive and dominating but should facilitate and guide the student, creating student teacher equality in the classroom.
I wish to provide a safe, stimulating and empowering environment that encourages self-confidence and self-awareness, and respect for their peers and themselves, a place where the students can explore and discover the world around them and experience many different cultures. I hope to develop it through a stimulating and challenging hands on approach, providing a wide range of supportive experiences to help the students develop. A place where they can prepare for life and express their own interest and begin to find out who they are.
My goal is to give the students the tools and motivation for them to lead successful and fulfilling lives. It is essential that each student maintain their individuality throughout the learning process, and also that they learn to have respect for all aspects of the community. Also to encourage the students to value one another and to understand that each person is different and that it is those differences that allow for everyone to learn and grow from one another.
